Meet local author Lindy Whale at a Special School Holiday Storytime at Orange City Library on Tuesday 30 September at 11am when she launches her children’s book Leroy the Little Frog With a Big Heart.It will also mark the eve of Dwarfism Month. Dwarfism is a condition where a person is unusually short. Short stature is generally defined as an adult height of 147cm (4 feet and 10 inches) or less. However, most people with dwarfism only grow to 122cm (4 feet). Most people prefer the term 'short stature' while others are happy to be called little people or dwarfs.Evey year, October is Dwarfism Awareness Month. Sadly, there is still a stigma around dwarfism. Dwarves are like us, only smaller. Dwarfism Awareness Month is to educate everyone on little people and the daily challenges they face because of their height.Lindy’s children’s picture book - Leroy the Little Frog With a Big Heart - features a little frog called Leroy. Leroy loves his life. He is happy go lucky frog, living with his mum dad and two sisters. Beginning school changes all that. Leroy has always known that he was smaller than average frog; it has never been a problem. Being at school is different. Can Leroy overcome these new challenges? Hop in to find out!Join us for this special School Holiday Storytime with local author Lindy Whale and enjoy fun activities related to the book.
