Join the Seaweed Appreciation Society international (SASi) and researcher Zoe Brittain from the School of Ecology and Environment, Deakin University for a campfire style conversation on Zoe's research in Environmental Science, Traditional Ecological Knowledge and Anthropology and her collaborative paper 'Oral Histories: Indigenous Use of Seaweed in Temperate Australia'.Along with the talk, the night will be a multisensorial experience exploring different seaweed varieties accompanied by the smoky flavours of seafood appetizers cooked in kelp on the fire.This event is part of SASi's current residency at Siteworks in Brunswick and is proudly supported by Moreland City Council through the Community Creator: Artist in Residence program.Image Description: Close up photograph of fresh seaweeds including unidentified red algae next to golden shiny Giant String Kelp (Macrocystis augustifolia) lying on rocks with a pitted and spiky textured surface.One of the fastest growing "plants" in the world this golden seaweed creates underwater forests up to 10 metres high.
