The finance sector is key to unlocking the system-wide change needed to reach Net Zero and drive the uptake of Science Based Targets.

Financial institutions are increasingly recognising the extent of climate risks and their impact on every market sector. Investment and lending activities must be urgently reviewed to avoid the worst effects of catastrophic climate change and fund a climate-secure, zero-carbon future. The Science Based Targets initiative’s (SBTi) new <a href="https://sciencebasedtargets.org/resources/legacy/2020/10/Financial-Sector-Science-Based-Targets-Guidance-Pilot-Version.pdf" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">framework</a> allows financial institutions – including banks, investors, insurance companies, pension funds and others – to set Science Based Targets (SBT) to align their lending and investment activities with the Paris Agreement. SBTi partners (Global Compact Network Australia, CDP, World Resources Institute and WWF) invite you to an online workshop that aims to equip financial institutions with the understanding, knowledge and tools to drive the adoption of SBT within your company, through a combination of practical and in-depth knowledge-sharing and interactive peer-learning sessions. This introductory workshop for financial institutions will take place over two afternoons from 3.30pm to 5.30pm on Tuesday 27th and Wednesday 28th April (AEST).
