<p>Redland City Council is offering a rare opportunity to tour the Birkdale Community Precinct and help shape the future for this important Redlands Coast land. </p><p>Imagine a place where families and individuals could come to play, swim, cycle and connect with others – water play, adventure sports, walking and cycling trails, picnic areas and perhaps paddock-to-plate or other ventures. At almost 10 times the size of the Gabba precinct, the land has plenty of room for many exciting future projects.</p><p>Bring your family and friends along to one of two community open days where you will be able to tour the land and be able to give Council your feedback on ideas for the site.</p><p>Experts in relation to heritage and the environment, as well as the five themes developed to assist with provoking ideas from the community, will be available to provide information about the diversity of the site and help answer your questions.</p><p>Join in the fun at the open days that will include free guided tours on a trackless train to the fascinating State heritage listed US Army-built World War II radio receiving station, animal petting zoo for children, music, food and drinks, interpretive signage and displays about the history of the site, including the heritage listed Willards Farm.</p><h2>Open Day Details</h2><p><strong>When:</strong> 10am – 4pm, Friday 16 and Saturday 17 April 2021</p><p>(COVID-SAFE REQUIREMENTS AND WEATHER CONDITIONS PERMITTING)</p><p><strong>Where:</strong> 302 Old Cleveland Road East, Birkdale (known as Willards Farm)</p><p>(PARKING AND ENTRY VIA BIRKDALE BAPTIST CHURCH, 1 JONES RD, BIRKDALE)  </p><p>Overflow parking is located at William Taylor Memorial Park carpark on the corner of Mary Street and Birkdale Road, Birkdale. <a href="https://redlnd.cc/2REGldz" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Click here for directions to William Taylor Memorial Park carpark.</a></p><p><strong>What: </strong>Community Open Days that feature guided tours on a trackless train | live music by Joe Geia and Mama Juju and the Jam Tarts | petting zoo for children | food and drinks | historical displays | weaving workshops | free entry</p><h2>Tickets</h2><p>Register now for your free tickets. Select a session time to attend. Session times are below. </p><p>Please note the 10am sessions on both days are most heavily booked and you may have longer to wait for your trackless train ride. You will be required to check in and out at the event via a QR Code registration system. This format will facilitate contact tracing and manage attendance numbers. </p><p>To keep attendees safe, COVID-safe measures will be implemented, including QR code registration for contact tracing, additional fencing, social distancing signage, hand sanitiser stations and enhanced cleaning protocols.</p><p>When attending the Birkdale Community Precinct Open Days please help us to stay COVID-safe by:</p><ul><li>washing your hands regularly! There will be plenty of hand sanitiser stations located around the event</li><li>practising good respiratory etiquette and wear a mask if you are unable to keep distance from others </li><li>maintaining physical distancing – keep a 1.5m distance from others at all times, including in queues </li><li>following instructions by the COVID-safe event monitors </li><li>ensuring you sign in and out of the event via the QR code to adhere to contact tracing requirements at the event</li><li>downloading and activating the federal government COVID-Safe app</li></ul><p>Please stay home if: </p><ul><li>you are feeling unwell, or displaying COVID-19 symptoms such as a fever, cough, runny nose, shortness of breath or other symptoms </li><li>you are currently being tested for COVID-19</li><li>you have been in recent close contact with a person who has returned a positive COVID-19 result </li><li>you have recently travelled overseas or to a declared hotspot in the past 14 days</li></ul><h2>How do I get there?</h2><h3>By car</h3><p>Free parking will be available at the Birkdale Baptist Church, 1 Jones Road, Birkdale. Follow the signs and directions from traffic marshals. The event space is a short walk from the car parking area. Some changed traffic conditions will be in place so please allow extra time.</p><p>Overflow parking is located at William Taylor Memorial Park carpark on the corner of Mary Street and Birkdale Road, Birkdale (opposite Birkdale State School) with a shuttle bus running regularly to pick you up and drop you off between 9:45am and 4pm. </p><p><a href="https://redlnd.cc/2REGldz" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Click here for directions to William Taylor Memorial Park carpark.</a></p>
