Lucy Guerin Incis an Australian dance company established in Melbourne in 2002 to create and tour new dance works. Renowned for the skill and originality of its small group of performers, it is a flexible organisation dedicated to challenging and extending the art of contemporary dance. The company is committed to the exploration of everyday events and the redefinition of the formal concerns of dance.

If you have any queries, please email tom@lucyguerininc.comABOUT THE WORKSHOP:What (the f**k) is the artist doing here?What does the artist do when they can’t be in the studio, the theatre, the gallery? When they can’t be physically together with their artistic collaborators, peers, teachers or audience? 2020 and the pandemic did a number on us. How we work, practice and even think about what we do as dancers and performance makers, was forced to pause/pivot/ponder (and probably whatever other ‘p’s you can think of).Perhaps we found ourselves thinking:What am I doing? What is my practice? What (the f**k) is a practice anyway!?In this workshop, What (the f**k) is the artist doing here? participants will rigorously explore what their artistic practice may be and how it may develop and sustain, even if we don’t know what it is yet. The workshop, Luke and participants will consider the act of care and what it means for you. Caring for practice, caring for the art form, caring for self and others, caring for the spaces and places we live and make art in.LUKE GEORGE:Luke George (lutruwita-Tasmania, 1978) creates new choreographic and visual work that takes daring and at times, unorthodox methods, to explore new intimacies and connections between artist and audience. Based in Narrm (Melbourne), Luke creates and performs work locally and internationally/culturally, through experimental processes with collaborating artists and the public across Australia, Asia, Europe and North America.
