<h2>Artist Spotlights</h2>The Other Film Festival WA 2021 presents a series of six artist spotlights which highlight the practice and unique working process of key artists in the arts and Deaf and Disabled space(s). Responding to three central themes: Authenticity &amp; Disability Leadership, Audience Engagement, and Disability-led Creative Process; the artist spotlights present an opportunity for artists to present their work and discuss their practices as they exists beyond merely advocacy for access inclusion: and as tangible, culturally rich, and legitimate forms.<h3>4 – 5pm: Artist Spotlight | Caroline Bowditch</h3>Performance artist, choreographer, and CEO for Arts Access Victoria, Caroline Bowditch shares her experiences around driving advocacy forward with creative force and stirring tension from within a system as an agent for change.About the artist:After 16 years living and working in the UK, Caroline returned to Australia in July 2018 to take up the role as CEO of Arts Access Victoria. She is best known as a performer, maker, teacher, speaker, and a mosquito buzzing in the ears of the arts industry in the UK and further afield. Caroline is a regular consultant on access and inclusion internationally, and has also led international residencies in Sweden, Italy, Switzerland and Germany. She is regularly invited to mentor local, national and international artists at all levels of their artistic development. With the support of the Australia Council for the Arts, Caroline took part in the prestigious CEO Leadership course at Harvard Business School in 2019-2020.About The Other Film Festival WAAn Arts Access Victoria initiative, The Other Film Festival started in 2004 and is a ground-breaking, international, disability-led program that elevates Deaf people and people with disability’s voices, stories and skills within the Australian screen industry.Presented in association with Perth Festival, this year’s The Other Film Festival WA is DADAA’s second expanded iteration of the project, encompassing a program of film screenings and artist spotlights driven by leading creatives with disability. This program represents the innovation and critical engagement with disability-politics that our creative sector needs at both a national and international level.
