Discover building names, "ghost signs" and other text remnants that uncover the hidden history of Brisbane's heritage buildings + IMA tour

Institute of Modern Art (IMA)

Meet us at the IMA in Berwick Street (side entrance of Judith Wright Centre) for a Brisbane Open Forgotten Type tour. Walk Fortitude Valley with Elliott Bledsoe, our Forgotten Type expert finding “ghost signs”. Then regroup at IMA to research and discuss the social history behind each sign. Discover building names, "ghost signs" and other text remnants that uncover the hidden history of Brisbane's heritage buildings.IMA exhibition tours are available as an addition to the Forgotten Type experience, following the tour.Participants are required to bring their own digital device and have an active Google account. Participants are also encouraged to be familiar with the <a href="https://trove.nla.gov.au/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">National Library of Australia’s Trove</a> and the <a href="http://onesearch.slq.qld.gov.au/primo-explore/search?vid=SLQ&lang=en_US" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">State Library of Queensland's SLQ One Search</a>.This Brisbane Open event is delivered in partnership with Elliott Bledsoe of Agentry and is part of Brisbane Open House's new year-round cultural tours offerings.First tour 12:30 - 2pm / IMA tour 2pm - 2.30pm approxSecond tour 2:30 - 4pm / IMA tour 4pm - 4.30pm approx
