Carbon offsetting homes is a thing now, but generally first home buyers still “don’t know, don’t care and can’t afford” net zero anyway. It’s almost impossible to get apartments off fossil fuels but embedded networks could be a solution. Gas is still better for cooking and we’re all Master Chefs now. Architects are losing their edge on energy efficiency because it’s cheaper to get an ESD consultant. Could architects, in fact, drive us towards net zero? Volume builders would like to get highly sustainable houses out to their market but it’s very hard, too expensive.
