<p>Lend a hand to plant 2000 native trees and learn how science, technology and culture connects us with nature at our National Tree Day and Doonan Open Data Expo at Doonan Creek Environment Reserve.</p><h2>How can you get involved? </h2><p><em>All activities are one hour in duration with an additional 30 minutes to check-in and walk to the activity area - we are offering multiple session times across both days.</em></p><h3>Tree planting/Doonan Open Data Expo Trail</h3><ul><li>Get your hands in the dirt and help plant 2,000 native trees, shrubs and sedges to increase wildlife habitat.</li></ul><ul><li>Take a virtual tour of the nearby bushland, see what’s planned for the site and learn more virtual fencing, habitat stacks, flying fox satellite tracking and the blue heart floodplain restoration.  (<em>see more details below</em>)</li></ul><h3>The Art of String Theory Workshop </h3><ul><li>Listen with  you&#x27;re eyes presented by Goldorang Bunjurla. Little Lizards Story told with a piece of looped string, explore the sacred geometric shape codes of Banksia integrifolia seed pod and more. <a href="https://www.theartofstringtheory.net/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">For more information.</a></li></ul><h3>Kabi Kabi First Nations cultural heritage awareness yarning circle</h3><ul><li>Learn how you can protect cultural heritage  and hear from the Kabi Kabi First Nations Peoples about their culture and connection to country.</li></ul><h3>Skygrow Growbots </h3><ul><li>Live demonstration of robots planting trees. This Brisbane business has developed robotic technology for large scale revegetation projects.</li></ul><ul><li><strong>Only operating on Monday.</strong> This is not a bookable session and can be viewed while walking to your activity area. </li></ul><h3>What to bring and what&#x27;s provided</h3><p>Equipment for the planting activity is provided. Please bring gloves, sun protection and water bottle and wear sturdy enclosed shoes.</p><p><strong>Deadly Espresso</strong> will be onsite selling coffee and snacks. Please bring along your own reusable coffee cup.</p><p></p><h3>Doonan Open Data Expo (DODE) Trail information</h3>
Take this self-guided walk and visit our stations. A smartphone or smart device is required to scan QR Codes to activate our interactive  information.
<strong>Station 1: Habitat stacks</strong> – Creating wildlife habitat and increasing carbon storage. 
<strong>Station 2: Doonan Ck Environment Reserve sound trail and virtual tour</strong> – take a tour online with 360 degree viewing of the seven different vegetation communities, and a story map showing what plants and animals are found in the reserve. Find out about the reserve landscape plan and future public access. 
<strong>Station 3: The virtual fence</strong>:- Council has installed an acoustic fence at hotspots across the region to help kangaroos and other wildlife cross the road safely. See how the fence works using the light on your phone.  
<strong>Station 4: Flying Fox satellite tracking and management</strong> – see where and how far flying fox travel in one day and how this effects Councils management of this endangered animal.  
<strong>Station 5: A transitioning landscape </strong>- Learn about the Blue Heart Sunshine Coast and how parts of the Maroochy Floodplain are responding to tidal inundation and sea level rise.
