A collaboration between SBNation’s Jon Bois and Chapo Trap House’s Felix Biederman, Fighting In The Age Of Loneliness tells a melancholic history of mixed martial arts, exploring how its popularity is intertwined with the alienation and corporatisation of modern life. Biederman adopts an Adam Curtis-like role, narrating a sprawling history over a collection of appropriated video footage, still photos and simple animation, which plots the sport’s evolution from a niche outlet for misfits to a site of mass saturation and monetisation.
