In this 2-hour class, we'll cover the basics to decorating fondant cookies (so – yes, it’s beginner friendly!), the different ways to paint on fondant cookies, how to use a cookie stamp, how to attach fondant to cookie and how to add details to your fondant cookies to give it a more professional look. You will also learn how to make your own dusting pouch which you will use in class and also take home with you when the class finishes. Everything you'll need is provided in class along with a live in-person instructor – just bring a smile (and maybe an apron).

More details on refunds, things to bring, credits, and FAQs are below - looking forward to having you with us.

About this Class

This class is for the beginner cookier or for the person who is just curious about what cookie decorating is all about! If you have limited experience with sugar cookies, found yourself frustrated with using fondant, or if you're trying to have fun with family or friends, this is the class for you!

We provide everything you will need from cookies, icing, embellishments, tools and equipment, and a box to take your awesome creations home in - we just need YOU! Each to-be-baker gets 4 cookies, embellishments to decorate the cookies, painting kit, fondant icing and all the tools necessary to knock this cookie class out of the park! Everything is prepped right before class – so no baking or icing mixing required. Just decorate!

This class is on 28 April 2024 and starts at 1:00pm – 3:00pm sharp so we can have enough time to decorate and answer questions along the way. Come by yourself, bring your best friend, or bring the family! It's a blast whether you're coming with a friend, family member, or solo!

This class is good for ages 8 years+ (children under 15 years old will need an attending adult) but if you'd like to leave the kiddos at home, purchase an add-on kit (more on that below)! The kits are great for kids to try these techniques at home!

The class will be held at the The St Peters Town Hall in NSW located at 39 Unwins Bridge Rd, Sydenham NSW 2044. Nervous about the parking situation? Don’t be! Parking is pretty easy - there are loads of street parking nearby!

FAQ

What will I learn in class?

You’ll learn the different ways to paint on fondant; how to use a cookie stamp; how to attach fondant to cookie and how to add details to your fondant cookies to give it a more professional look. You will also learn how to make your own dusting pouch which you take home after class.

What will I bring home?

By the end of the class, you will have created a set of gorgeous cookies ready to dry for 6-12 hours in their own box. You will also bring home the dusting pouch you made in class. And of course, you’ll have new skills, memories, and fun!

What is included in the class?

All classes include a recipe booklet, instructions on how to make your own fondant pouch, all the tools and equipment you need on the day to create your cookie designs and a box to take your creations home.

What do I need to bring?

Nothing but a smile! Everything will be provided for you including my (rather tasty) sugar cookies. All you need to do is join us and have fun! Messy decorator? You can bring your own apron or just wear easy-to-wash clothing.

Do I need to know how to bake?

Nope! No baking experience required. We will have the cookies pre-made for you along with the fondant icing already colored. Have a little decorating experience under your belt? Come on too! I can help with questions on icing mixing and dough spread!

Can I purchase an additional take-home kit?

Yes! Many parents or practicing cookiers purchase additional class kits to take home and re-do the classes. You can purchase an add-on kit during check-out. Your kit will be available at the end of your class - so don't forget it! If you’re skipping class and just ordering the kit – swing by anytime during class to sneak in and pick it up – it will be labelled with your name!

What age is best for cookie classes?

Our classes are for almost any age! From youngsters to grandparents - come on in and have some cookie fun with us! Our in-person classes are great for any age; however children 8 to 14 years old will need an attending parent in the class. If you think your child may be too young to enjoy the in-person class, purchase an additional take-home kit and teach your child at home!

Can just my child take the class?

We ask that all parents also attend the classes with their children under 15 years old. For children over 15 years old, you can drop off your child to take the class and return to pick-up in 2 hours. Due to space restrictions, we do not have room for parents to stand by and watch their children in class. So unfortunately, your adorable kiddo cannot take the class alone. A parent attending a class with a child and sharing one set of cookies have been charged a discounted rate.

Why do I have to pay exra if I am sharing a set of cookies?

The venue has maximum capacity. Each parent and child attendee takes up 2 spots. The parent + child price would normally be 2 full priced tickets.

Can more than one child attend?

Yes. All children must be at least 8 years old. The cost is $50 for each additional child. You will get an extra set of cookies for each additional child to decorate.

I don't have a child. Can I still attend?

Absolutely! While the class is designed for a younger audience, beginner adults will also benefit from the skills taught in this class.

Can I sign up as an individual or as a group?

You can sign up either as an individual, with a friend, or with a whole group. The more the merrier! We are limited to a total of 10 seats per class, so definitely sign up ASAP!

Where are the classes located?

This class will be held at The St Peters Town Hall, 39 Unwins Bridge Rd, Sydenham NSW 2044.

I signed up for a class but can't make it?

We understand that life happens so that’s why we allow you to cancel up to 7 days before the class. You can always transfer your spot to a friend though (and what a nice friend you are). Any cancellation after the 7 days will be a class credit redeemable for up to 12 months from the credit issue date.

DIY / Add-On Kits

Order your cookie class kit and take the class home with you to teach a child or friend! These class kits come with everything you'll use in class (except the fondant icing). Cookie Class DIY Kits are created before your class, and you'll pick them up and take them with you after class.

How long can a kit last? Your kits can last for a week or longer. Freezing cookies keep them fresh for a long time, but I recommend using your kit as soon as possible - ideally in the first week after you've taken it home. Cookies are heat sealed for freshness – but again, use it in under a week to make sure it tastes the best.

Classes with attendance below 4 people will be canceled. Don’t be sad! You can either get a class credit for a future class (along with my apologies), or a full refund! If you cancel your ticket and request a refund prior to the cancelation window expiring, I’ll happily give you a refund less the Eventbrite fee – since I don’t get this fee back either. Eventbrite keeps it regardless of whether you show up or cancel. I know – I hate it too!

Things to Bring

Wondering what you need to bring to have a successful time decorating? Well – nothing’s required – but here’s the things we recommend if you’d like to elevate your experience!

  • Bring an apron! Things can get messy when you’re working with fondant.
  • Bring your glasses! If you wear glasses when working on finer details, bringing your glasses to class may be a good idea.
  • Bring your phone! I love it when students take pictures throughout class – so bring a phone!
  • Bring a good attitude! Cookies are fun, but they're also challenging! A good attitude makes all the difference.
