JCL ratings below 400

Date: 08th Mar 2026 (Sunday 2:30 - 5:30 pm)

Location: Trainstein Chess College, Level 1, 308 Victoria Avenue Chatswood

Age: Under 18 years old ( i.e. players who are aged 17 or less on the day of the tournament)

Rating Restriction: NSWJCL rating under 400 (i.e. players whose JCL rating is 399 or less on the day of the tournament)

Cost: $50

Time Control: 15 minutes per player per game

Format: Swiss competition (approximately 6 rounds). This means that all players play 6 games and no-one is ‘knocked out’ of the tournament. This tournament will be NSWJCL rated.

Prizes: Trophies will be given for 1st Place, 2nd Place & 3rd Place (If <10 players competed in, medals might be awarded instead). The best performed rookie player (U9) will also receive a trophy. Medals and other prizes for Age & Rating & Performance. All other participants will receive one trainstein certificate.

All other participants will receive one trainstein certificate.


Notice:

  1. Our U400 JCL-rated tournament is open to anyone under 18 years of age and with a JCL rating below 400—you do not need to be a Trainstein Chess College member or student to participate
  2. Game scores will be submitted to the NSW Junior Chess League for record-keeping
  3. Please ensure you arrive on time and follow the game rules. Trainstein Chess College reserves the right to disqualify any participant who does not adhere to the instructions, to maintain order and fairness throughout the tournament
  4. While unlikely, Trainstein Chess College reserves the right to cancel a tournament due to insufficient enrolments. In such cases, participants will be notified, and fees will be refunded or credited
