Greater Shepparton Blue Ribbon Committee

Since Victoria Police formed in 1853, 159 members have paid the ultimate price while protecting and serving the people of Victoria.   The sacrifice of each member is recognised on police memorials, but the Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Foundation has chosen additional pathways to not only perpetuate their memory, but to also continue their service to the community.

Funds raised by the Foundation are donated to Victoria's hospitals, so that new and improved emergency facilities can be built and named in memory of fallen officers.   The most recent dedications, of the emergency helipad at Portland Hospital and the Patient Monitoring Station at Royal Melbourne Hospital, brought the total number of living memorials to 44.   This is a program that remembers lives by saving others.

Neil Soullier, CEO of the Victoria Police Blue Ribbon Foundation, summarised the reason for supporting public hospitals; "We remember that those members of Victoria Police were doing their job of protecting our community when they died.   They signed on for their shift and never had the chance to sign off - perhaps because of this they remain on duty.   The investment in new and improved facilities in our hospitals is a tangible way for these officers to continue their service to the Victorian community."

Today the Blue Ribbon Foundation operates across Victoria through its head office based in Moorabbin, and a network of 17 regional branches.

Since 1988 the Foundation has grown through public support and is also a channel through which the caring & grateful people of Victoria can show their appreciation to the men & women of their Police Force who ensure peace, safety and good order in our communities.

It’s a unique organization which is supported by a wide variety of people within our community to manage and conduct a busy schedule of activities across our State, helping to build some impressive facilities in our hospitals.
