The Department of Health and Human Services develops and delivers policies, programs and services that support and enhance the wellbeing of all Victorians. The Department of Health and Human Services take a broad view of the causes of ill health, the drivers of good health, the social and economic context in which people live, and of the incidence and experience of vulnerability.

Quality and Safety Branch

The Quality and Safety Branch provides oversight over the quality and safety of Victorian health services through leadership, policy direction, and program implementation. The Quality and Safety Branch comprises of the following business units:• Consumer Partnerships and Quality Standards • Quality and Safety Programs• Patient Safety Framework Review

The branch is responsible for the development, and management of policy, projects and programs to support and lead the Victorian health sector in the systematic improvement of healthcare quality and safety. Programs include the development of a patient safety learning system, programs to lead safety such as infection control, and programs improve quality such as consumer participation and health care experience.
