Description
The Australian Museum Science Festival returns Saturday 15 August with a family friendly event celebrating all things science as part of National Science Week 2015.
Join us at the Australian Museum from 9.30am to 5pm for a day full of science shows and activities. The newly renovated museum will host an immersive festival with hands-on workshops, science stage shows, exhibition stalls, roving scientists, live animals and face painting. This year we will be celebrating the United Nations International Year of Light by exploring the science of light and all its applications from colour vision and astronomy to laser technology and virtual reality.
Catherine Beehag, Manager of the Australian Museum Science Festival said, “Our goal is to inspire the next generation of scientists and researchers. The community day on August 15, provides an opportunity for budding scientists to be exposed to new and creative aspects of science and technology, which may lead to future careers.”
Highlights include:
- Australian Museum Science Festival Expo – Meet Australia’s top science institutions and organisations
- Jollybops stage show – Explore what energy is and discover how it is transformed with The Jolly Professor and his sidekick Rusty the Robot.
- Winny the Muttaburrasaurus – Get up close and personal with a life-sized dinosaur.
