Hopeland Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation that works in the Homa Bay community on the shores of Lake Victoria in Kenya. Hopeland Foundation operates a school for HIV/AIDS orphaned children. Homa Bay community is affected by one of the highest rates of HIV/AIDS in Kenya which presents a need for various projects in the community. To address this need, we aim to establish a formal orphanage and a HIV community centre, first and foremost, as our next projects. Additionally, we have partnerships with other Kenyan organisations to address environmental and unemployment issues affecting the population.
There is hope though, and check out our website for more information on Hopeland, what we’re doing and what we want to achieve: http://hopelandfoundation.wix.com/hopeland
The lunch will be at Nyala African Restaurant, Fiztroy [http://nyala.com.au/index.html] on Sunday 14th September. If you’ve never had African food- come try it. If you have- then you must know how delicious and filling it is, and surely want an opportunity to eat more! Let me know of any dietry requirements you have and I'll be sure to pass them onto Nyala.
Feel free to contact Emily Newton with any dietry requirements or questions about this event:
