This event is suitable for Food Act 2008 authorised officers and those with an interest in food safety.

Sneak peek - New food safety campaign trial in WA.

Priority 1 of the WA Foodborne Illness Reduction Strategy focuses on raising consumer awareness of safe food handling practices in the home kitchen and when buying food.

Bree Abbott, Principal Stakeholder Engagement Officer, will provide a sneak peek at this new and creative campaign that will be trialed in WA.

Taking the gamble out of the googy. Improving egg safety.

Henry Tan, Principal Scientific Officer, will provide an overview of the breadth of work that has focused on improving egg safety standards in WA, what changes are anticipated for the industry and provide insights into the important role local governments play in egg safety.

A local government perspective: Working with egg producers.

Anne Marie Laddie, Environmental Health Officer, from the Shire of Augusta-Margaret River will provide insights on the Shire's journey in successfully supporting local egg producers to comply with the Australian New Zealand Food Standards Code.

Is it the egg? Outbreak investigations.

John Coles, Scientific Officer, will present recent outbreak investigation examples and the correlation with egg consumption / preparation in WA.

Removing drama from food recalls.

Enita Ostojić , WA Deputy Food Recall Officer, will present on the anatomy of a food recall, the three-acts of a WA food recall drama, the '4P’ approach to food recalls and the future of food recalls.

The Environmental Health Directorate of the WA Department of Health is responsible for ensuring Western Australians have access to clean water, safe food, well managed hazards and healthy places for people to live, work and play. Responsible management of environmental health related risks remains critical in preventing disease and maintaining public health. 

To support the enforcement and compliance of environmental health legislation a range of workshops and seminars are hosted throughout the year on various topics targeting local government authorised officers, industry, State government and health professionals.
