Description

Earthwatch Institute is proud to invite you to Annual Fundraising Dinner. This year we have invited Dr Paulo de Souza, a CSIRO scientist, to be the guest speaker at our event.

He is a physicist and miniaturization expert in field robotics, geochemistry and environmental engineering. He is a collaborating scientist in NASA's Mars Exploration Rover mission, which successfully placed two robotics on Mars; Spirit and Opportunity. Now he is joining Earthwarch’s Annual Dinner to tell us about his latest research on bee population in Australia. He has designed microrobotics the size of a grain of sand, which he places on the backs of bees in Tasmania, Australia to monitor their behavior. "Using this technology, we aim to understand the bee’s relationship with its environment. This should help us understand optimal productivity conditions as well as further our knowledge of the cause of colony collapse disorder" said Dr De Souza (CSIRO, 2014). How will this contribute to global development and agriculture? Come and find out!

All funds will go towards Australian threatened and endangered species conservation initiatives.

As well, we have prepared an auction in which the main prize is Earthwatch expedition!

Don't miss out!
