Preston Library
266 Gower Street Preston, VIC 3072 AustraliaDescription
The Conversation Café is a 10-week program which aims to provide a regular time and space in the library for people to practise English conversation skills.
The sessions will take place in the back seating area of Preston Library, hosted by Multicultural and Diversity Librarian, Mare Maticevski, who has a background in teaching.
New arrivals, those learning English and anyone willing to participate in intercultural conversation practice are invited to the program.
Colouring-in activities will be provided for children while their parents take part.
Sessions each week will be partly themed, with flexibility for conversations to take their own course. Themes might include meetings and greetings, likes and dislikes, agreeing and disagreeing, talking about time, asking for and giving directions, conversation starters and describing what you see in a photo.
Each session will also aim to build upon the previous week's learnings, although it is not a requirement for participants to attend every week. Light refreshments will be served.
