Comedy Republic

Comedy Republic is a brand new, unique theatre in the heart of Melbourne purpose built for comedy, by comedians. Capturing the enthusiasm of a festival all year round, Comedy Republic spotlights Melbourne’s best comics, with drop-ins from interstate and overseas.

Upstairs at 231 Bourke St sits a 145-seat theatre, purpose-built for comedy. Shows are live in-person and streamed online. The mid-size theatre is small enough to foster and elevate emerging creatives’ work, yet large enough for intimate evenings with Australia’s biggest names. Since opening in 2020, Comedy Republic has already hosted Celia Pacquola, Rhys Nicholson, Cal Wilson, Joel Creasey, Denise Scott, Dilruk Jayasinha, and many more.
