Landscape Alliance Ireland

Ireland’s landscapes are changing — but are we shaping that change together?

From rewilding projects and river connectivity to climate policy and the Rights of Nature, the pressures on our landscapes are no longer abstract, they’re unfolding across Ireland right now.

Landscape Forum 2026: Our Shared Landscapes brings these conversations into one place.

Over two days in Monaghan, the forum combines:

  • Field visits and behind-the-scenes tours
  • Walking explorations of townscape and rewilding projects
  • Talks from practitioners, policymakers, and researchers
  • A national workshop focused on the future of landscape practice in Ireland

Including discussions on:

Landscape-scale connectivity and mapping

Community engagement and shared spaces

Climate policy and its impact on Irish landscapes

The evolving role of landscape professionals

Landscape Alliance Ireland is an informal partnership of individuals, non-governmental organisations, representative organisations and public officials, committed to quality in our shared landscape that applies to all landscapes from everyday urban landscapes to renowned scenic landscapes. We seek to provide a platform for open and broad discussions relating to landscape quality and management. Landscape Alliance Ireland is committed to the formulation and implementation of landscape policy at local, regional, national, European and international level to facilitate the development of a framework approach within which effective total landscape management can be achieved. We advocate for good landscape engagement and management and support the implementation of the European Landscape Convention fully.

Membership is open to all of those with an interest and/or commitment to sustaining and enhancing the quality of our landscape.
