Sira: A Virtual Museum of West African Masks

Sira is a groundbreaking virtual museum and immersive platform developed by Delou Africa, Inc., reimagining how audiences encounter West African mask traditions. The name Sira, from the Malinké language, means “path” or “journey,” reflecting how masking traditions are experienced—through movement, ceremony, and the transmission of knowledge over time.

Structured through four guiding pillars—Stories, Ideas, Rites, and Ancestry—Sira presents masking traditions as living cultural pathways. These interconnected elements reveal how masks carry narrative, embody social and philosophical meaning, take form through performance, and remain rooted in lineage and ancestral presence.

Through immersive digital tools, Sira expands access beyond geographic and institutional boundaries, inviting audiences to encounter masks not as static artifacts, but as evolving expressions of knowledge, creativity, and communal memory.
