Course Overview

The first part of the workshop will be an introduction, to meet each other and get a sense of what the next five months will entail. Then students will have the privilege of setting their educational goals for the seminar.

Core Role of Employee Relations

We will look at what employee relations means and how ER contributes to organisational success: we will also look at management and ER careers separately, and compare the two in order to improve efficiency in work, by increasing engagement with employees.

Function in Practice

By this part of the programme, delegates can expect to gain an overall picture of how employee relations form the heart of any successful organisation.

Engaging employees through performance management

This session will give participants the tools to give motivating and concrete feedback as well as help them navigate tough conversations about performance. Participants will learn how to best help their coworkers on the path to continued success!

Misconduct-Based Actions

Legal actions are rarely appealing, but when an employee has engaged in misconduct, it can happen. We will explain how you should prepare for such an instance, should it occur, and the various statutory bases you can rely on to engage in appropriate discipline pursuant to the normal course, as well as the best ways to defend against any claim that may arise alleging misconduct.

We will also review what factors to consider when dealing with a grievance, so you can better stay ahead of the quickly changing landscape of today’s workplace.

What are some better ways for me to carry out my punctuality during my working day, and what are some behaviors I can cultivate to form more discipline in the workplace?
