About this event

  • 1 hour 30 minutes

VIFM's Victorian Law Week event ‘What Happened On The Way Home’, will provide an insight into the many challenges involved in the investigation of sexual assaults, and the key role taken by the doctors and nurses from The Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine, who care for these patients and provide critical evidence in Court.

Sexual assaults are complex and challenging crimes to investigate. They involve emotional issues, intimate examinations, highly sensitive evidence and often special legal requirements. Even when the requirements of the criminal justice system have been met, victims of sexual offences have particular needs in relation to health care and social support.

Our MC, the ABC’s Brian Nankervis will host a panel of experts who will discuss these issues, at The State Library Theatrette at 6.30pm on Monday 20th of May.
