About this event

Welcome! My name is Sonika and I invite you to join me in my new weekly morning Yoga Breathwork class at a brand new studio location @Marouhome in Maroubra.

Every Thursday @ 9:30am Beginning Thursday 18th April

This is a two-part class. In the first half you will be guided through an awakening Hatha yoga practice that will allow the physical body to release and open, increasing the circulation and blood flow, preparing you to move into the Breathwork. Hatha yoga is a slower balanced asana flow, incorporating standing, seated, balancing and gentle back bending postures

In the second half, you will guided on a journey into the Breath, incorporating traditional pranayama and modern breathing practices. You have the option of sitting or lying down, or both depending on the breathing practice. First you will be guided slowly into the breath, with breath awareness techniques to connect you with your own breathing patterns, moving into more activating breathing practices, to help stimulate the nervous system (‘fight and flight’ response) and release stress and repressed emotions stored in the subconscious mind, finally slowing the breath back to its natural state regulating the parasympathetic nervous system (‘rest and digest’ response). We will also be incorporating mild breath holds on both the inhalation and exhalation, which help to balance oxygen and carbon dioxide levels, allowing more oxygen to be released back into the body. The Breath is one of the most effective tools we have to change the way we feel, at any given moment. Get ready to feel more alive and back in touch with your true authentic self!

This amazing practice of movement and breath has grounded and centered me. It has kept my physical body healthy and balanced, and given me clarity of mind. It has created a space where I can go and come back to stillness, lightness, and joy. In essence brings me to my true authentic self. Which at its core for every one of us is.... Love."
