Let's practice meditation while walking in a group. Yes, you can learn skills like calm and concentration while being outside, with your eyes open, with your body moving. Give it a try!
Meet at the labyrinth around 9 and we will begin at 9:05. I'll give some instruction verbally and there is also a handout, and when everyone's ready we'll start with a short practice.
This method can be done by everyone from complete beginners to life-long meditators. You set your own pace and distance and there's no fitness component. During the practice there will be some silent guidance and some auditory reminders, with no talking during the practice. You can take a break to sit at any time, and I'll have my waterproof blanket with me as a place to rest on the grass.
Meet near the Centennial Park labyrinth which is on Dickens Drive opposite the discovery centre. Please allow at least 15 minutes to get to the spot from a parking spot. I'll have a sign.
This event will go ahead in light rain but not heavy rain.
There's no charge to attend but if you'd like to make a donation there's a suggestion of $5 paid on the day via bank transfer or cash. There is no prepayment.
This workshop is led by embodiment coach and movement teacher Mags Sheridan as part of the Wise Body group series. I train people to embody the qualities they need like patience, persistence, and resilience, through movements like walking and dancing.
If you'd like more information about this method of meditation, email me for the Wise Body e-book.
All adult humans are welcome. Probably not kids or dogs for this event.
People with neurodivergence are especially encouraged to try it, as are those with trauma responses. This class is for you because you too deserve calmness and clarity in your mind. Classes with stillness, silence, breath work, etc. may not be for us but that doesn't mean we miss out on the benefits of meditation. Learn a different way with me.
Getting there: The light rail and several busses go along the edge of the park which is quite large. There is parking all along Dickens Drive, but spots fill quickly. Please allow 15 minutes or more to walk to the meeting spot.
