Join Rickeeta Walley in a fun, interactive session to learn more about Ngoongar culture! Meet at Piney Lakes Environmental Education Centre, then go on a short walk in the reserve (25mins) to hear about Noongar plant uses, stories of Piney Lakes and caring for Country, before finishing with a brief, fun recap of what was learned (using gumnuts, banksia cones etc.) This event is aimed at families with small children, but suited to all ages!


What to Expect

Length- 1 hour event, including a walk in the reserve

Event activities will start on time. If you are running late, you may not be able to join in.

Location- Inside and outside

Requirements- Please wear clothing suited to the weather, and good walking shoes

Family friendly event- All ages welcome, please be respectful the host, each other and your environment. Caregivers are responsible for the health and safety of their children at all times.

Accessibility- This event will be mostly sitting with some light movement.

Accessible parking is available at front of Centre, rooms are located on multiple levels via a ramp, toilets are available within the venue. For specific access requirements please feel free to call or email the centre at (08)9364 0191 or piney.lakes@melville.wa.gov.au

Directions to centre

We encourage attendees to use public transport, there is a convenient bus stop 2 minutes walking distance from the Centre available on multiple routes.

The Centre is located at 555 Leach Highway, Winthrop in the Piney Lakes reserve. To reach us, if heading westbound, take the first left after Murdoch Drive on Leach Highway. If coming from the Fremantle area, continue on Leach Hwy across Murdoch Drive and use the designated U-turn just after the lights to move to the westbound lanes. Go back through the lights at Murdoch Drive and take the first left. Please park in the signed public carpark.
