About this event

  • 2 hours

Join us for morning tea, a special Portuguese guitar performance and an informative talk in collaboration with the Consulate of Portugal in Queensland.

Morning tea will be served from 9:30am and formalities will begin at 10:00am. This presentation will include an address from His Excellency, Antonio Moniz, Ambassador of Portugal to Australia and Diana Lopes, Honorary Consul of Portugal to Queensland.

The Portuguese in Australia have a fascinating history, ranging from Madeira cray fishers to wartime evacuees from Timor and sailors who ‘jumped ship’.

To celebrate Portugal Day, National Archives of Australia will showcase records from the national archival collection related to stories of Portuguese migration.

The event will also include tips and tricks to find records about your own family.
