Join a webinar with UK expert Saskia Walcott to learn how to use impact narratives and storytelling in funding proposals, case studies, and career progression. Learn about the different types of impact narratives, hear inspiring examples of how to use and present a variety of impact story formats, and examples of good storytelling in research.

The webinar will cover:

· The basics of storytelling, including the universal elements of a compelling story and how this applies to impact narratives

· Inspiring examples of how to use and present impact stories in a variety of formats such as university websites, policy briefs, narrative CVs

· Typologies of impact narratives, based on a reading of the academic literature and our experience in supporting 100s of researchers in developing impact case studies

· Common pitfalls in impact narratives.


By the end, participants will have:

· A better understanding of how they can apply storytelling techniques to enhance how they communicate their impact

· Explored examples of good storytelling in research

· Had the opportunity to reflect on what they have learned and how to construct their own compelling impact story.


Brief Bio - Saskia Walcott

Saskia specialises in working with academic researchers in the UK HE sector. She has a deep knowledge of integrating research impact into the research process as well as an understanding of the policy drivers. Her consultancy provides a range of support services for researchers and research professionals including strategic reviews, facilitation, impact training and evaluation. Before working in UK Higher Education Saskia working in PR, creating and managing fully-integrated communication strategies for a broad range of clients from international business to charities. She is an experienced team leader, a great motivator and communicator and comfortable interacting with decision-makers at the most senior level. Her specialties include research impact strategy, research impact training and facilitation.
