Overview

A Holistic, Nature-Based Approach to Attention, Regulation and Wellbeing

ADHD has become one of the most discussed and diagnosed conditions of our time. For many individuals and families, medication provides a level of effective support. However, it often comes with side effects, unanswered questions, and a lingering sense that something deeper may also need to be addressed.

Parents especially are searching for sustainable, healthy ways to support their children. Not only to manage symptoms, but to nurture focus, resilience, emotional balance and long-term wellbeing.

This workshop offers a broader, more complete lens.

In this 2-hour session, Dr Rafeena will explore ADHD through the framework of classical Ayurvedic psychology. A system that has long examined the relationship between the nervous system, sensory input, behaviour, digestion, lifestyle rhythm and mental clarity.

You will learn:

  • How ADHD-like patterns are understood through the lens of Vata imbalance and disturbed Prana
  • The role of the senses in mental agitation and how “input management” (what we see, hear, eat and consume daily) directly shapes attention
  • Ayurvedic psychology and the concept of sattva, rajas and tamas in the mind
  • Why routine, rhythm and connection to nature are foundational for stabilising attention
  • The impact of diet, including a simple sattvic, nervous-system supportive approach to food
  • Practical Ayurvedic tools such as oil therapies, breath practices and daily rituals that help regulate the system

Rather than viewing attention challenges as isolated symptoms, Ayurveda invites us to consider the whole ecosystem of the person: their sleep, food, screen exposure, environment, emotional landscape, pace of life and sensory load.

Following the presentation, Sami will guide a 30-minute Hatha yoga practice specifically designed for nervous system regulation and focus. This session will include:

  • Grounding, steady asana to build embodied awareness
  • Simple, rhythmic pranayama to calm and regulate the breath and nervous system
  • A short meditation to cultivate sustained attention and internal steadiness

This class will be a practice of grounding, regulation, and strengthening the capacity to maintain stillness.

You’ll leave with practical strategies you can begin implementing immediately — small, realistic shifts in routine, food, sensory exposure, and daily practices that support long-term resilience.

This event is ideal for:

  • Women seeking supportive, natural tools alongside or beyond medication
  • Female yoga teachers, therapists and health practitioners wanting a holistic framework for understanding ADHD
  • Anyone curious about understanding the mind from a Vedic perspective.

We are not here to dismiss conventional care. We are here to expand the conversation — to bring in the wisdom of nature, the science of nervous system regulation, and the principles of Ayurvedic psychology. When attention is scattered, Ayurveda teaches that we do not simply treat the brain, we stabilise the whole system.
