Un Poco de Music with Victor Valdes

Introduce your little ones to the joy of Mexican music with the acclaimed virtuoso harpist Victor Vales.

Valdes’ powerful, compelling voice and passion for storytelling will transport young and old alike, on a joyous journey through the many emotions of Mexico and the Latin American musical landscape. One of Australia’s leading world music artists, this Mexican harpist, singer and dancer has redefined the harp as a solo and lead instrument. Valdes is a walking encyclopaedia of Latin music past and present. Awarded “Distinguished Mexican” by the government of Mexico and by the Institute of Mexicans Abroad, for his successful career and role in disseminating Mexican music and Hispanic culture both in Australia and throughout the world.

Valdes has appeared on folk, world music, rock, and blues festival stages Australia-wide and was named Director’s choice at Bluesfest 2011. He has shared the stage with Angus & Julia, Stone, Aloe Blacc, to Los Lobos, Mirusia, Jimmy Barnes and the Wiggles.

Presented by Mini Musica, family friendly morning music concerts for 0-6 year olds and their grown-ups. Performances are approximately 40 minutes to suit young families.

As a guide, you can expect a 30-minute themed concert followed by a 10-minute interactive, especially for our younger audience members. You’re always welcome to sit back and enjoy or get up and participate in a singalong of childhood favourites, dance a jig or flamenco – whatever is the flavour of the day!
