Light refreshments served from 6.00pm.
Lecture begins at 7.00pm, with a short film screening, and concludes at around 9.00pm.
This year’s Nancy Hillier Memorial Lecture celebrates Nancy’s legacy by recognising the growing importance and need for “troublemakers” who are willing to stand up for their neighbourhoods. The lecture brings together a panel of activists, community members and policy makers – including multi-award winning filmmaker Jane Castle – to discuss the lessons that Nancy has to offer all of us who care about our communities and our environment.
The evening will start with a showing of the documentary 60,000 Barrels which documented some of Nancy’s work to combat water and air pollution in Botany. This will be followed by an informal round-table discussion about the needs that communities like Botany face, and the difference that engaged neighbours can make.
