About this event

  • 2 hours 30 minutes

Learn from the best and get your trees in order! Tree pruning not only makes your garden look neater it also helps them be more productive and happy. Be expertly guided by Fiona from Gaia Permaculture through the principles of tree care, this talk will also include a real-time demostration in Piney Lakes Community Garden orchard.

What you can expect to learn:

  • Tools, maintenance & tool hygiene in the garden (to stop disease)
  • Pruning to suit your plant and what you want
  • Avoiding pruning “shock”


What to expect

Length

45 - 1 hour talk with 30 minute demonstration in garden.

Start time

Event activities will start on time, but if you are running late, you may still join.

Location

Inside - Binjar Room and outside in orchard

Adult learning space- guests are requested to turn phones to silent, where possible, remain seated for the duration of the event, be respectful to facilitator and attendees alike and exit discreetly when needed. This event is unlikely to be suitable for children.

Disabled parking is available at front of Centre, rooms are located on multiple levels via a ramp and toilets are available within the venue. For specific access requirements please feel free to call or email the centre at (08)9364 0191 or piney.lakes@melville.wa.gov.au


Directions to centre

Please consider using public transportation. A bus stop, just a 2-minute walk away, is conveniently located near the Centre and services multiple routes.

The Centre is located at 555 Leach Highway, Winthrop in the Piney Lakes reserve. To reach us, if heading westbound, take the first left after Murdoch Drive on Leach Highway. If coming from the Fremantle area, continue on Leach Hwy across Murdoch Drive and use the designated U-turn just after the lights to move to the westbound lanes. Go back through the lights at Murdoch Drive and take the first left. Please park in the signed public carpark.
