Tourismo Album Launch

Tourismo is a distinctive modern jazz outfit co-led by recent national jazz award winners Matthew Thomson and Alex Hirlian. All five members hail from the prestigious Sydney Conservatorium of Music, each having toured and studied internationally. Foundry 616 proudly presents Tourismo’s debut Album launch, “Torque”.

The album has received 5 stars in The Australian, with Miguel Zenon acknowledging it in his top 10 albums to listen to in 2023. In their debut album, the band draws from influences such as Ben Wendell, Gerald Clayton, Robert Glasper, and Kendrick Scott.

All eight compositions are rhythmically and harmonically driven, incorporating memorable melodies, fused within complex odd-time signatures. Physical CDs will be available to purchase on the night.
