About this event

A decade in the making, Tjaabi-Flood Country is a national contemporary intercultural music and theatre performance showcasing in Perth for the very first time on Wednesday, 19 June till Friday, 21 June 2024 at the City of Melville Main Hall.

Directed by Ngarluma Songman Patrick Churnside and Scott Rankin, with layered musical arrangements by Aaron Hopper and images from Benjamin Ducroz and Jordan East, this profound performance features the tjaabi song form that is unique to First Nations peoples of the Pilbara.

A work of intercultural exchange, Tjaabi-Flood Country tells the story of resilience and the endurance of Indigenous communities in the face of ongoing challenges and changes through music, spoken words and animation of the unique Pilbara landscape.
