About this event

  • 1 hour 30 minutes

This event will be recorded and the recording will be available to registrants for 30 days from the date of the presentation.

Taking a lead from Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins, Jennifer is suggesting you take advantage of TimeLine methodology by taking a step in time.

Not only is this application useful for people but also for locations, events and time periods and it has an uncomplicated structure, limited only by your own imaginations. It is a format that will simplify research, storage and lengthy explanations to 'perhaps' relatives. For organizational purposes (efficiency, facilities, ease and familiarity), offered by employing the alphabet and numbers, particularly dates, this method cannot be surpassed.

Come on, kick your knees up!

The event will be held at 10 am Queensland, Australia time.

Presenter: Dr Jennifer Harrison

Jennifer Harrison is a research fellow with the School of Historical and Philosophical Inquiry at The University of Queensland following a career mainly based on history and biographical research.

One of her main interests has been the worldwide input of the ‘Coming of the Strangers’ to nineteenth century Queensland.

Tracing the origins of these pioneers - convicts, British soldiers, farmers, explorers and a complexity of others - raised many intriguing questions leading to much travelling over many years seeking answers.

These research adventures have been a delight, as has investigating her own extended family connections which had its Australian genesis in 1792.

QFHS aims to bring together people who are interested in the study of genealogy, heraldry, and family and local history, and to assist and encourage members in their research. We also aim to encourage the preservation of historical records, to acquire and maintain a reference and research library, and to collect and preserve material relating to the families of the people of Queensland.

Most of our speakers donate their time for the larger education benefit of our members. We are particularly grateful for the donation of time and effort from our own members. Their knowledge & expertise are valuable gifts to the Society and our members, and we thank them, one and all.
