In this 2-hour workshop, we will practice various meditation techniques and share their impact on the brain, how they promote healing, health, social connection and altered state of consciousness. Experience a live scientific demonstration measuring brain activity during a mantra meditation practice, highlighting the potential of neuroplasticity. Take away practical evidence based meditations for enhancing brain health and optimal wellbeing.

Facilitators

Dr Gemma Perry is a postdoctoral researcher, with over 10-years experience as a yoga and meditation teacher. Gemma's research explores how chanting can decrease psychological and physiological stress, increase social connection, and alter states of consciousness. Gemma aims to establish mantra and chanting as practices that are recognised by health practitioners, scientists, educators, and industry for promoting psychosocial wellbeing, peace, and reaching our full human potential.


Dr Oliver Baumann is an Associate Professor of Psychology who specializes in understanding how nature impacts human emotion, cognition, and well-being. With a multidisciplinary approach, he investigates the neuroscientific benefits of nature and meditation through behavioral, psychophysiological, and neuroimaging methods. Oliver seeks to amplify the intrinsic connection between humans and the natural environment for a more sustainable world.
