This workshop will:


  1. Cover crucial information and give guidance relating to topics such as choosing journals for publication, journal status (impact factor, rankings), reviewing processes
  2. Explain why papers get rejected - guarantee it won't happen for the wrong reasons!
  3. Work with real examples of rejection letters and reviewers' comments, enabling you to learn to 'read' them in a way that places you in a strong position to respond and decide what to do next
  4. Explore examples of responses to editors, so you can influence the editor's decision and hopefully increase your chances of acceptance


Professor Nick Hopwood is based at the University of Technology Sydney. He is also an Extraordinary Professor at Stellenbosch University Department of Curriculum Studies. Nick has completed a number of published studies on research students’ learning and experiences, given keynotes at conferences on doctoral education, and is a regular facilitator of workshops on diverse aspects of research and academic work.
