Since 2008, Stanford Australia Foundation (SAF) has awarded thirty-two scholarships to attend Stanford GSB worth more than $800,000. And more than half of those scholarships were funded or co-funded by organisations with similar aims to build Australian non-profit and entrepreneurship capacity, notably the Dyson Bequest (since 2010) and CSIRO (2016-2020).
In 2019, SAF agreed to a five-year partnership with UTS Business School that enabled SAF to bring Professors Haim Mendelson and Glenn Carroll to Sydney that year. And during the pandemic, SAF hosted nine Stanford professor webinars.
Partnerships have been critical to SAF’s delivery of educational capability to Australians. SAF’s partnership multiplier is approximately 3.3, more than tripling the impact of every dollar donated by Stanford alumni. While partnerships will remain crucial to SAF, the Foundation continues to expand its impact, increasing its funding needs.
In 2022, SAF will be awarding four scholarships to non-profit leaders, including two new scholarships focused on Indigenous leaders and leaders with disability. And this December, SAF will be relaunching its CSIRO partnership with plans for two additional entrepreneurship scholarships, thus bringing SAF’s annual scholarship number to six.
As the Foundation approaches its fifteen-year anniversary, the Board is looking to set an ambitious goal to nearly triple its current corpus of $340k to $1 million by 2025.
