We're showing Spirited Away at Palace Cinema!

Winner of the 2002 Academy Award for Best Animated feature, Spirited Away tells the story of 10-year-old Chihiro, a girl in the midst of a move to the suburbs who wanders into a strange town and finds a world of spirits ruled over by the mysterious Yubaba. Watch the trailer here!

We'll also be showing short films made by local young people as part of Valley Youth's 3rd Annual Short Film Fest!

There'll be prizes for best dressed and a Spirited Away themed photobooth! 📸


📆 Date: Saturday, 18th May, 2024

🕑 Time: Please arrive at 2pm. The Short Film Fest will start at 2:10pm and Spirited Away will screen at 2:30pm

💲 Cost: $5 movie ticket, or $10 movie ticket with popcorn and a soft drink

📍Location: Palace Cinema Penny Lane (17 Puckle Street, Moonee Ponds)

'Spirited Away ' is rated PG. PG-rated content is not recommended for viewing by people under the age of 15 without guidance from parents, teachers or guardians. Parent/ guardians of young people are encouraged to review the classification guidelines at Homepage | Australian Classification

We aim for our events to be as accessible as possible. The event is wheelchair accessible, and there is an elevator on site. There are gender neutral and wheelchair accessible toilets on site. This event was planned by young people in Moonee Valley City Council’s Avenue Productions group and funded through the FReeZA program. FReeZA is a Victorian Government initiative that supports young Victorians to get involved in their community by planning and running drug, smoke, vaping and alcohol-free music and cultural events for other young people.

We acknowledge the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people as traditional custodians of the land this event will take place on and we pay respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Elders, past, present and emerging.
