Writing workshop with Maddie Godfrey, KSP NextGen Writer-in-Residence 2018

Saturday 17 February 2018, 3.00-5.00pm

$20 KSP and WAWU members, $30 others

This workshop as part of our 'So You Want To...' series is brought to you by the KSP Writers' Centre with support from the Shire of Mundaring as part of the 2018 National Year of Lifelong Learning. Tea and coffee provided.

So You Want To ... Perform Poetry

Internationally acclaimed performance poet and published writer Maddie Godfrey was born and bred in Perth, Western Australia. After storming stages at The Sydney Opera House, The Royal Albert Hall, The Bowery Poetry Club and Glastonbury Festival, the poetry fireball has maintained Maddie's strong ties to Perth. In this workshop,
she uses poetry to explore how the places we come are woven deeply into our storytelling practices.

Using her experience as a spoken word educator, Maddie will facilitate compassionate conversations about memory and home. She will challenge participants to navigate nostalgia as a literary device, that proves itself equally important as simile or assonance.

This workshop is suitable for those aged 12+. All levels of writing experience are suitable, as Maddie will tailor the workshop to the specific needs of participants. The ultimate aim of the workshop is to provoke thought and explore new avenues of the imagination. By the conclusion, all participants will have a new piece of work ready
to share.

A great workshop to help prepare for KSP's bi-monthly Open Mic as part of the Sundowner Sessions series.
