About this event

  • 2 hours 30 minutes

Do you have textiles, homewares or other small items that need repair? Don't toss them—you can fix them!

City of Stonnington is working with Let Me Be Frank to deliver our new Roving Repair campaign.

It often feels easier to buy something new, than to fix what we have. But if we knew how to repair the things we already own, we could give them a second chance. This reduces waste, saves money, and help keeps your beloved items in circulation for longer.

About this event

We will have repairers of textiles, homewares and other small items onsite to support you in developing skills and confidence to repair these items instead of throwing them away.

We are committed to creating a supportive space where everyone is welcome. If our volunteer and expert repairers can’t fix your item, we will advise you on what to do. At these events we will support you to learn and share knowledge.

Bookings are essential. Let us know what item you plan to bring when you book, so our repairers can be prepared!

Frequently asked questions

What can I bring to a repair event?

Please check the event listing to see what types of repair are offered. Please note that whilst we will do our best to match you with a repairer, not all items will be able to be repaired on the day if at all. You must register your item prior to attending. One item per person per workshop.

Are repairs done for free?

City of Stonnington is appointing expert and hobby repairers to help you. Wherever possible repairs will be conducted for free, with basic materials being provided. In some instances, you may be advised to purchase materials or parts and bring your item back to a subsequent event.

What if my item can’t be repaired?

Our repairers will do their best to repair as many items as possible. However, if an item is beyond repair, requires specialised tools or parts, or we don’t have time on the day of the event, we will provide guidance on where you can get further assistance.

Can I volunteer at a repair workshop?

Absolutely! We welcome passionate individuals who want to contribute to the Roving Repair Program. If you have repair skills or simply want to help with organising and logistics, please contact Lucy Best at Let Me Be Frank at lucy@letmebefrank.com.au or on 0421 356 999.

Do I need to register for the repair workshops?

Yes. Click on the event links for details about booking. Repair workshops are free and booking will help us ensure we have enough repairers to help as many people as possible. You can also let us know what you plan to bring, so our repairers can be prepared to save time.

Don’t have items to repair but want to attend?

Feel free to drop by during any of the repair workshops for more information, to learn more about the repair movement and the circular economy, or to check out the repairs. We would love to connect.
