Weekend National Conference

Catholic Social Services, Prison Ministry, Aged Care/Hospital Chaplaincy, Pastoral Associates, Pastoral Workers

Inspiration for parish and ecclesial ministries to implement, review and enliven pastoral outreach, advocacy, mission projects and outreach opportunities.

“Learn to do good. Work for justice. Help the down-and-out. Stand up for the homeless. Go to bat for the defenceless.” – Isaiah 1:17

Pope Francis has called for faith communities in this era of change to become ‘field hospitals’ for the broken and bleeding – places of welcome, encounter, accompaniment and hope. Fr Greg Boyle’s work with Homeboy Industries and his ongoing advocacy for those on the margins is a prime example of how a community can respond courageously to the needs in their local neighbourhood. Radical Kinship brings together individuals from Catholic Social Services, those involved in Prison Ministry, Aged Care and Hospital Chaplaincy, Pastoral Associates and Pastoral Workers to learn from the wisdom of Fr Greg as well as other contemporary missionary disciples. Radical Kinship will explore how to create a greater culture of invitation and welcome, what ‘boundless compassion’ looks like and feels like in the context of lay ecclesial ministry, and learn from the challenges of those working ‘on the margins’.
