About this event

  • 1 hour

As part of Law Week, Study Melbourne is hosting a presentation by Gabriella Marchetti Principal Lawyer at JobWatch and the International Student Accommodation and Employment Legal Service (ISEALS).

This session will address common problems experienced by students, including underpayment, visa uncertainty, gig work and precarious employment, sexual harassment and discrimination, sham contracting, and unfair dismissal.

International students who receive legal support report overwhelming gratitude and appreciation for the help they get. If you’re an international student or you work with international students, this discussion will connect you to tailored legal and advocacy services that are available now.

Getting help can make an enormous difference to how students experience life in Australia.

Study Melbourne is a Victorian Government initiative dedicated to promoting Victoria to international students and providing support and information to existing students already in the state. We organise events where students can learn new skills to progress their career, meet new people, network and enhance their experience of studying and living in Victoria. We also provide a range of free services, including free study spaces, WiFi and coffee in our Study Hubs in Melbourne, Shanghai and Ho Chi Minh City, and Kuala Lumpur, free legal advice on accommodation and work rights issues, and general information and tips on navigating issues affecting international students in Victoria.
