Parenting After Separation – Focus on the Kids

The Parenting After Separation is a two-day in-person course offered in Alice Springs to help separated parents with ongoing conflict so they can make positive changes with the best interest of the children in mind. When conflict continues after separation, it can be hard to know the best course of action to take for the sake of the children.

This program is about helping parents who have or who are experiencing separation. It is particularly designed to assist in the area of parenting children whilst living apart, and to give information about children’s reactions to separation and how parents can help their children through this difficult period.

The process of separation is never easy, and it is often a time of high emotion and conflict. Research shows that how this conflict is managed by parents will determine the extent to which children are able to recover emotionally from the separation and move on with their lives.

This unique program includes the following topics:

  • From one home to two homes
  • Effects of on-going conflict on children
  • Navigating the bumpy roads – managing conflict
  • Grief and Loss during family separation
  • Parenting Apart – making it work for the children
  • The ongoing journey – how to sustain positive change

As a result, parents in this program are provided with information on conflict and with the opportunity to share their knowledge and experience as well as develop new skills and strategies to manage the difficult and challenging situations that separation and parenting apart can bring.

This is a two-day face-to-face course, attendance is required on both days. Lunch will be included.
