Orientation Training: Getting Employees Off to a Good Start

Course Introduction

To start, participants will introduce themselves by discussing goals and the objectives of the programme. This will create a relational space for learning by inviting participants into the experience through sharing aims.

Finding, Hiring and Retaining Quality Staff

What you see here is that participants will work together to state why these functionalities are valuable, and how it relates to an ongoing onboarding programme.

Creating Employee Commitment

They will learn about the four Cs of commitment: clarity (by clarifying expectations and desired outcomes); competence (by developing knowledge about how to overcome barriers to change); connection (by strengthening affiliate networks within the workplace or with key stakeholders and by recognising the contributions of others); and commitment (by seeking support and buy-in from others, and working towards shared goals).

Perception

We will play with how our perspectives and those around us influence our outlooks. This session will give a deepened understanding about how you see life!

Streamlined Onboarding Process

Employees will learn how to get their new hires up to speed quickly and working hard in this interactive session.

Creating an Orientation Program

The group will now have another chance to learn this portion of the session as they fill in the blanks in the list of common mistakes and pitfalls. They can then use this to inform their transitions programme design.

Key Elements of a Successful Onboarding Process

Participants will have then a chance to work on identifying and unpacking the negative patterns and pitfalls in doing orientations as well as mistakes and defaults that they can overcome and move away from, leading to a new program for creating transitions.
