1971 Norths Premiership - 50th Anniversary Reunion
2021 heralds the 50th Anniversary of Norths epic grand final win against Queanbeyan (8-3) at Manuka Oval in 1971. Filthy Fearnside's 4ths also played in a Grand Final that day.
To commemorate this victory Uni Norths OWLS will host a lunch at The Barn on 5th June to re-live the occasion as we play Queanbeyan in a home game.
IT HAS TO BE A TICKETED EVENT FOR COVID PURPOSES.
TICKETS ARE $25 WHICH INCLUDES LUNCH and DRINKS (beer, wine & soft drink) UNTIL 1ST GRADE KICK OFF AT 3PM
OWLS invite all 1971 players , officials, supporters and partners to attend the lunch to celebrate this milestone. There will (most likely) be some COVID restrictions in place which will limit our lunch numbers to 100 however we have time to address any issues that may arise.
A preliminary plan for the celebration follows:
• 4pm Friday 4th June Drinks at The RUC
• 12 Noon Saturday 5th June Arrive at the Barn (ANU North Oval) for a 1pm lunch.
• 1st Grade Jumper presentation, Some reflective speeches, jovial reminiscences,
• 3pm kick off (1971 Captain to Kick Off)
• Sunday – free time !!
In 2022 the OWLS will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Norths 1972 premiership and the 30th Anniversary of ANU Rugby Club Premiership
