Conflict is More Profitable Than Peace, 17 mins | Alia Ali (US)

A photographed binder translated into time-based media, it documents the ongoing war in

Yemen. Conflict is More Profitable Than Peace attempts to unravel the intricate web of facts

and players that have generated the complicated state of affairs from which one of the

worst humanitarian crises of our time has emerged. By naming both victims and culprits, the

research presents a less distracted image of “who” while still pursuing the question of

“why?”

All Time is Local, 5 mins | Black Quantum Futurism (US)

Like politics and the weather, all time is local. Considering time’s intimate relationship to

space and locality, this text, video, and object series continues the work of BQF in recovering

and amplifying historical memory of autonomous Black communal space-times in North

Philly, meditating on the complex, contested temporal and spatial legacies of historical,

liberatory Black futurist projects based primarily in North Philly, such as Progress Aerospace

Enterprises, Zion Gardens, and Berean Institute.

Ningwasum, 44 mins | Subash Thebe Limbu (Nepal)

Ningwasum, 2021 is a Yakthung science fiction documentary film/video-work narrated by

Miksam, a time traveller from future Indigenous Nation. Ningwasum follows two time

travellers Miksam and Mingsoma, played by Subin Limbu and Shanta Nepali respectively, in

the Himalayas weaving indigenous folk stories, culture, climate change and science fiction.

The film explores notion of time, space and memory, how realities and the sense of now

could be different for different community.
