Event Description:

The Standard Mental Health First Aid course teaches participants how to provide initial support to another adult who may be experiencing a mental health problem or mental health crisis, until professional help is received, or the crisis resolves. Course participants learn about the signs and symptoms of common mental health problems in adults, how to recognise and respond to an emerging or worsening mental health problem and the treatments and supports available Using a practical, evidence-based action plan, course participants learn how to approach someone they are concerned about and initiate a conversation about those concerns. Participants also learn how to offer initial support and information and how to encourage the person to seek professional help or other supports.

Across this two day nationally accredited course, participants will learn about key mental illnesses and first aid processes which can be applied to someone experiencing any of the following:

  • Depression, including suicidal thoughts, feelings or behaviours.
  • Anxiety, including panic attacks.
  • Psychosis, including severe psychotic episodes.
  • Effects of alcohol or substance disorder, including high levels of intoxication.

Upon course completion, participants receive a nationally recognised certificate and qualification as a Mental Health First Aider; provided by Mental Health First Aid Australia.


Course Catering:

The course will be fully catered for including externally sourced Morning Tea and Lunch, whose costs are absorbed within the ticket of attendance. Afternoon Tea will also be supplied. Tea and Coffee making facilities will be available at the host location.

Should any participant have any dietary requirements of consideration, SS&T kindly request advance notice of these requirements in writing by no later than COB Thursday 18th July 2024. All written notice of dietary requirements are to go to michaell@saunderssafety.com.au.

Payment Conditions:

Upon formal registration to the event, the participant will be issued an itemised invoice per participant by Saunders Safety & Training.

It is anticipated demand for this course will be high, and as such formal registration will only occur upon receipt of payment of registration invoice in full. SS&T request payment in full is made within fourteen (14) days from date of invoice issued, subject to change as we get closer to event date (should availability of tickets remain).

In all instances, payment of registration in full will be required prior to Wednesday 24th July 2024 coinciding with the first day of course prescription.

Cancellation by Participant:

All cancellations must be received at least twenty-one (21) calendar days prior to the enrolled course commencement date in writing (via email). Where twenty-one (21) or more calendar days’ notification for cancellation has been received for paid courses, SS&T will refund the total cost of the course. Refunds will not be issued for cancellations either not received or received within 21 business days prior to the course commencement.

No refunds would be made for any other incidental expenses incurred by the participant.

Where a participant does not attend a course and does not provide communication of non-attendance (no show) no refund will be made for the cost of the ticket.

Course Cancellation by Saunders Safety & Training:

SS&T reserves the right to cancel any course at any point in time prior to its commencement, at its own discretion. Participants will be notified of cancellations using details supplied during registration. A full refund for the cost of the ticket including the booking fee will be issued by SS&T.
