About this event

  • 1 hour 30 minutes

This event will celebrate and acknowledge the contributions of people with disability to our Plan and community. The launch event will include the following highlights:

  • A keynote speech by Mel Spencer OAM. Mel is a fierce Autistic advocate and a parent to three Autistic teenagers. She identifies as Autistic herself and is committed to ensuring that the world is more accepting of the Autism community. She will discuss how to make our community more inclusive for people with disability.
  • A showcase of 13 artworks by people with disability. We commissioned QArt Gallery and Studio by Endeavour Foundation to create artworks inspired by the Plan's vision. These will be featured in the designed version of the Plan. QArt is a social enterprise based in Kew that provides employment, mentoring, and training for artists with disability.
  • Artists from QArt sharing their experiences of being part of the project and the meaning behind their artworks.
  • An opportunity to learn more about the different actions Council is taking to make Boroondara more accessible and inclusive.
